Why the ADHD Brain Becomes Obsessed With Novelty, Escapism, and Endless Stimulation

Over time, the nervous system begins adapting to this level of artificial stimulation. Ordinary life starts feeling slower, duller, heavier, and emotionally less rewarding by comparison. Concentration weakens further. Motivation for difficult tasks declines. Emotional discomfort becomes harder to tolerate without stimulation. The individual may then seek even more novelty and intensity simply to recreate the same neurological effect that once came easily.
